Claudia Cummings, a certified USAT Level One Triathlon and Multisport coach, is the Tritons’ founder and Director. She has been doing triathlons since 1997 after being inspired by Paula Newby-Fraser’s gutsy finish at the 1995 Ironman championships in Kona. Her multisport resume ranges from sprint triathlons to Ironman, as well as duathlons and adventure races, and she has won multiple age-group awards. She is currently exploring the challenges of ultra-distance running as an offshoot of her passion for trail running. She loves coaching as a chance to give back to the sport and the LGBT community, and for the reward of helping others on their path to success. She lives in Brooklyn and New Paltz, NY with her partner Evelyn, their two cats, and a growing pack of bicycles and running shoes.

Les Jones, a certified USAT Level One Triathlon and Multisport coach, is the Tritons' Co-Director and has been an integral part of the development and growth of the team since joining as part of the original roster in 1998. He comes from an extensive background as a competitive swimmer, and is entering his 12th season as a triathlete. He is a 4 time Ironman and multiple marathon finisher, and has an accomplished history of competing at every distance both nationally and internationally. He also designed the Tritons' signature nautilus-and-skyline logo, which has been seen in races around the globe. Les is a former professional modern dancer and has used that experience to develop his teaching and coaching style, which is based on the relationship and similarity of motion, balance and rhythm between dance and endurance sport.
